PEDESTRIAN ZONE

Human activities are highly valued in SCHELLINK, which is why we are committed to a pedestrian friendly climate. This is achieved by creation of a pedestrian zone that connects Schellink with the city center and Dommel route. In order to optimize this pedestrian climate, the pedestrian flow is separated from bicycle and car traffic in order to minimize the number of conflicts. This will be achieved by the new footbridge over the Dommel. This route is strongly reflected in SCHELLINK's spatial design. The walkway forms a physical and visual connection with the monumental part of the factory and is publicly accessible.
DOMMEL VISION
The plot is located at the intersection of two important city axes: the Vestdijk and the green Dommel valley. To utilize the full potential of this valuable quality, the area will be transformed into a pedestrian-focused recreational area. This will be done by extending the usable green of het Stadswandelpark and connecting it with the pedestrian path close to de Mariënhagen by strengthening the pedestrian facilities along the Dommel. This city-scale development is out of scope of the Schellens renovation; however, the SCHELLINK project will be the first step in strengthening the Dommel Area: the current DELA plot, where both connections intersect, will play a crucial role as recreational area, where Eindhovenaren can interact with each other and the Dommel. In addition, the connection of the plot with the city center will be strengthened by means of a pedestrian bridge and connection with the green area of Het College.

FUNCTIONS & FACILITiES
The functions of the indoor spaces listen to the way in which the outdoor space is used. Along the public path and on the square in front of the monument are the public faculties such as the exhibition, Seats to Meet and office space, but also retail and a lunchroom. The more intimate courtyard is largely adjoined by residential spaces.

There are roof terraces on the roofs of the building, which are only accessible to the SCHELLINK community.

The arrival of new homes and facilities in SCHELLINK will increase the pressure on the mobility network. In order to prevent an increase in the negative effects of urban car use SCHELLINK will pursue a progressive mobility policy. But also to protect the pedestrian climate, conflicting car transport has to be avoided and existing parking areas transformed. Urban parking consumes valuable land in an inefficient way, in our mobility masterplan we use mobility as a service and mobility-on-demand as a solution. Seen the central location of the plot and its accessibility by public transport and the rigid cycle path network, the site allows us to set ambitious demands regarding active modes and car parking. SCHELLINK actively steers in direction of urban sustainable mobility. In the shared bicycle storage, the Schellink community is offered shared bikes on which a large part of the city is accessible. For larger distances, Electric Amber cars are a solution, which can be requested on-demand and delivered to your door. Users can also collect a car from the Amber hubs next to the brewery or the DELA office, where they are visible and easily recognizable to the public. At hubs at the SCHELLINK plot space is made for 15 Amber spots. For visitors, limited spots are available to demotivate car transport and normalize traveling by PT.
The DELA bicycle cellar will be retained to support bicycle transport and the entrance will be relocated to reduce conflict with pedestrians. There will also be room for an Amber Hub.
If residents still want to keep their private cars, it is beneficial if they are parked on the outskirts of the city. In an ideal scenario, hubs will travel here, to which a strong public transport connection runs, this development is in the hands of the municipality.
